Women's Self Defense
PKA is proud to be able to offer a Women’s Self-Defense Course on a regular basis to the community!
During this intensive, hands-on training syllabus, women are given an opportunity to take an active part in learning dynamic, street scenarios and concepts with absolutely no strings attached.
Ladies get an extreme brush-stroke view of cutting-edge, modern, training in one-hour group sessions. Classes are held on Sunday Afternoons 3:30 - 4:30pm
Ladies then have an option of continuing their training for any amount of time that they choose, in a group or private format.
This exciting course, reviewed and detailed by local media such as the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, contains topics included but not limited to:
o Psychology of the guard
o Three zones
o Personal space
o Eye contact
o Communication / Verbalization
o Fight or flight
o The victim mindset
o Target areas
o Bags and purses
o Mailboxes and water grates
o Throw away money
o Red flag attack areas
o Defensive hand strikes
o Defensive leg strikes
o Defensive weapons
o Hands-on attacks
o Specific spontaneous learning drills
Each group of ladies is different and no two classes are ever the same. Based on questions and the direction which the ladies drive the class, groups may surpass the detailed four page training syllabus which guides these ladies on the road to self-defense, confidence and technique.
Ladies wishing to take part in this course must be at least 16 years old. There are no additional age limits, or restrictions. This 16-year-old cut-off is due to the mature level of information and topics openly discussed by the ladies throughout the course.
No one is required or permitted to participate in any portion of the course or drills & techniques that one feels are too physically demanding or uncomfortable.
